About Probably Stolen: Release, Demo, and Playtest

Read Probably Stolen developer and publisher details, release facts, the retired demo, playtest history, nine launch scenarios, and official community links.

What is Probably Stolen?

Probably Stolen - Cyberpunk Shopkeeper Sim is a single-player, pixel-art shopkeeping game set on a dystopian space station. You run a store in the Lower Levels, trade merchandise of questionable origin, inspect suspicious goods, and manage the pressure of rising rent.

The game is developed by Questing Goose Studio and published by tinyBuild. Its supplied store classification includes Indie, RPG, Simulation, and Strategy. The central experience is the shop rather than a multiplayer economy: customer decisions, storage, appraisal, displays, and specialist business paths shape each run.

For a guided introduction to those systems, start with the Apprentice opening guide or the main wiki hub.

When and where did it release?

Version 1.0 released on October 28, 2026 for Windows PC. The launch announcement recorded a release time of 2:00 PM CET, 9:00 AM EDT, and 6:00 AM PDT. The supplied release reference says the Steam listing showed the game as released when checked on October 29.

The store evidence does not list Mac or Linux versions. Steam Deck compatibility is a separate, unresolved question and remains Unconfirmed on the Steam Deck page.

The US list price recorded on October 29 was $19.99, with a $17.99 launch-discount price. Those dated figures are not a promise of current or future pricing; the money and price section keeps that caveat alongside the in-game economy guidance.

What happened to the free demo?

The free demo became available on September 14, 2026. It was a pre-release slice, and the developer said it would no longer be available once 1.0 launched. The supplied release history therefore describes it as retired at 1.0, rather than as a permanent free edition.

A demo update on October 19 added aquaculture-related content ahead of launch. The 1.0 announcement subsequently included Aquafarmer among the nine starting scenarios. The evidence does not justify promising that old demo access, saves, or modifications transfer to the full game; those questions should be checked against current official information rather than inferred.

What does the playtest history show?

Official patch references in the material document that the game changed during its playtest period. Two examples help explain mechanics that later appeared in the launch scenario list:

  • Playtest Patch 48.3.10, dated August 6, introduced Rock Bottom as a hardcore start with nothing.
  • Playtest Patch 48.3.12, dated August 7, made the previously hidden Rat Wrangler visible.

These patch details establish development history, not a complete account of every 1.0 balance change. Player videos from the playtest remain useful for controls and shop routines, but their numeric claims should be checked in the release build. The tips page carries that warning on its community-derived shortcuts and values.

What are the nine 1.0 starting scenarios?

The developer’s October 21 announcement lists Apprentice, Water Merchant, Fence, Rock Bottom, Hydroponic Farmer, Gunsmith, Chemist, Rat Wrangler, and Aquafarmer. Apprentice is the generalist newcomer option; the other starts specialize in particular goods or increase the challenge.

The store description still names fewer starts, so the newer announcement is the source for the complete launch list. Organ Trader, Junker, and Street Food Vendor are described as post-launch plans and should not be counted as released 1.0 scenarios.

The water guide explains the evidence-supported Water Merchant and Hydroponic Farmer outlines without inventing purification values. Other systems are linked throughout the wiki hub.

No official support email is included in the supplied evidence, so none is invented here. For player-run spaces and the documented third-party mod, see the community directory. For critical coverage, the review tracker explains why no launch score is currently published.
